Help to Pass the DMV Permit Test

Question (submitted on 1/3/2024)

Hello! My son is preparing for his second attempt at his permit test and is really nervous about not passing again. He's read the DMV Handbook twice now, but he's more of a visual learner and doesn't do well with retaining info from reading.

Do you have any suggestions or do you provide any help with passing the permit test? We live in California and his next test is in 2 weeks. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Best Regards, Benny

DMV Drive Test Tips for Wet Roads

Question (submitted on 3/16/2021)

Hello Looks like it might rain during my son's drive test for driver license. Should he be driving slower or just leave more space? And if it's not raining but the roads are wet same thing? He's worried -). Thanks

Just to clarify if it isn't actively raining but the roads are wet (maybe it rained 30 min ago or an hour ago and the road is either visibly wet with puddles or damp looking), could you drive 5mph under the speed limit and not get penalized? So since he's taking his test in Winnetka, does he drive 35 mph on the 40 mph streets and 20 mph in residential areas?

Thank you so much
Davey

DMV Drive Test Advice

Question (submitted on 9/25/2020)

Hello there,
When driving on the road in the right lane, And there is one unpredictable obstacle, a pedestrian who suddenly show up from behind a car, someone who opens his Car's door, someone who goes into or out of a parking: what should I do when I'm driving at a pretty fast - authorized- speed?

I know what I would do in real life, quick check on my mirrors and very often changing Lane into left and then coming back into the right once the obstacle test or if I drive slow enough I would just slow down already to stop and try to fit in the right lane but driving slowly.

BUT SHOULD I CHANGE LANE on the DMV DRIVE TEST If the examiner doesn't say anything to me?

Or I am supposed to make a right turn right after the obstacle?
