Am I Eligible for Traffic School
If you are a licensed driver, you may choose to attend Traffic Violator School for certain types of vehicle violations. In order to be eligible for the Traffic Violator School Program in Sacramento, you must meet all of the following criteria:
- You had a valid driver's license at the time you were ticketed.
- You are not presently going to, and have not gone to, a traffic violator school program within the past 18 months.
- Your infraction must be for a moving violation that is not a) for a misdemeanor charge, b) for driving a commercial vehicle or c) requiring a mandated appearance in court.
- Your ticket does not involve alcohol or drug charges.
- Your ticket is not for California Vehicle Code sections 22406.5 or 21655.5.
- If your traffic case involves a failure to appear warrant or civil assessment, the failure to appear charge must be paid in full or adjudicated prior to attending traffic school.
WARNING: If you are not eligible to attend traffic safety school, but do so regardless, your conviction will be reported to the California DMV and you will forfeit any fees already paid.
Traffic School Payment and Fees
If you meet all of the criteria discussed above, you can elect to enroll in our Traffic Violator School Program.
First, you have to post the full bail amount and any required proof of correction AND pay a non-refundable court admin fee. These bail amounts and fees are separate from the costs of your traffic violator school tuition.
Requesting Traffic School in Sacramento
To request traffic school, simply:
- Pay your bail amount plus the court admin fee on the web at Epay-it.com.
- OR Appear at the traffic school window at the Carol Miller Justice Center, Room 100. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- OR Pay your bail and fees through the traffic court's Interactive Voice Response system by calling 916-875-7778.

Failure to Complete Traffic School in Sacramento
Failure to finish traffic school by the given due date will lead to a forfeiture of your bail and fees, and the ticket infraction will be reported on your official Department of Motor Vehicles driving record.
