Answers to Your Arizona Defensive Driving Questions

Common questions with expert answers to help you better understand Arizona Defensive Driving

Is this an approved course?

Yes! This course is approved by the State of Arizona Supreme Court.

Why take a defensive driving course in Arizona?

Eligible drivers can take traffic school to dismiss an Arizona traffic ticket and keep it off their driving record. To be eligible for ticket dismissal, you may only take a defensive driving course once in 12 months for a moving violation, the traffic violation must not have resulted in serious injury or death, and you may not hold a commercial driver license.

How much does defensive driving cost?

The cost of defensive driving in Arizona consists of 4 fees: a school fee, which for our course is $35.00, a state fee of $20.00, a state surcharge of $45.00, and a court diversion fee which varies for each court. The Arizona Supreme court and your court require traffic schools to collect the court diversion fees on their behalf.

How long does Online Arizona Defensive Driving take to complete?

The Arizona Defensive Driving course is a timed course and takes about 4.5 hours. You will be able to complete the course in one sitting or in multiple sessions. Bear in mind, per AZ state regulations, you have to complete the course seven days prior to your court appearance due date.

Before you can start your defensive driving program, Arizona state laws require that you submit a couple documents to the school, to verify your eligibility with the state. Once you have enrolled and submitted these items, you will be able to make a payment and start the program within 24 hours.
