FLEXIBILITY & CONVENIENCE
The Driver Ed in a Box program is meant to be both flexible and convenient.
In other words, parents can take their time teaching their teen how to
drive, on their own schedules. There is no need to drive your kids to a
commercial driving school that is miles away. Also, teens will learn in
the comfort and safety of their own homes without the distractions generally
found in commercial driving schools.
TIME REQUIREMENTS
There is no maximum time limit for completing the program, thus parents can
teach the program on their own schedule. There are scheduling rules required
by the DPS that parents must follow:
- Only 2 hours
of total instruction per day is allowed
- No more than 2
hours of classroom instruction may be scheduled per day
- No more
than 1 hour of in-vehicle instruction may be scheduled
per day
So the maximum per day instruction may be broken down into one of the following
scenarios:
2-hours classroom or 1-hour
classroom & 1
hour in-vehicle training or 1-hour in-vehicle training.
If students attend a high school or commercial driving school class, the courses
are usually scheduled over 90 days. The Driver Ed in a Box classroom portion
may be completed in only 20 calendar days.

teen with any questions that may arise during the course lessons. Their expert

with a quality educational experience.
