Traffic School in Escondido

Escondido Traffic School

After being ticketed for committing a moving violation in Escondido, you should receive a violation notice in the mail from the court. The notice should arrive in approximately 2-3 weeks from your violation date. You may or may not be eligible for traffic school. The mailed court notice will instruct you what to do and will tell you whether or not you do qualify for a traffic school program to hide ticket points from your CADMV record. Traffic Violator School eligibility is determined as follows:

Traffic School Eligible Offenses for Escondido Violations

Unless listed below as an "Ineligible Offenses," an Escondido Traffic Court Clerk can approve your request to go to traffic school if you are a resident or non-resident with a driver's license in good standing. Requests to take an 8-hour traffic violator school can be granted as a pre-trial diversion under the State of CA Vehicle Code sections 41501(a) and 42005 for any violation under divisions 11 and 12. Finally, a traffic infraction must carry at least one point and be reportable to the California DMV.

San Diego County Traffic School

In more simple terms, Escondido drivers who are ticketed while driving their car are more often than not eligible for traffic school. Violations such as speeding over the limit, failing to stop at a red light, driving carelessly, making an improper turn, etc. can be masked with an approved traffic school. Please read below to see if any of the reasons for ineligibility apply to you.

Ineligible Offenses - Infractions Not To Be Masked with Traffic School

Escondido drivers cannot take traffic school for any misdemeanor or criminal offenses. Additionally, any of the following tickets are not traffic school eligible:

  1. A ticket that was cited in a commercial vehicle
  2. A ticket that counts as more than one point under Vehicle Code section 12810 or as one and one-half points (or more) under Vehicle Code section 12810.5(b)(2)
  3. A ticket you received within 18-months of a previous ticket that you already took traffic school for
  4. A ticket involving a Tank Vehicle (as covered in CA VC S22406.5)
  5. A ticket involving alcohol or drug use and/or possession
  6. A speeding ticket in which your alleged speed is 25 miles or more above the speed limit
  7. A ticket on which you failed to show up in court unless the failure-to-appear charge has been adjudicated
  8. A ticket on which you have failed to show up under Penal Code section 1214.1 unless your monetary assessment has been taken care of

Note: Do not attempt to take a traffic school class if you are not authorized to do so in your mailed courtesy notice from the Escondido Court.

If you are eligible to take traffic school, you may enroll completely online: Escondido Accepted Traffic Violator School.

Note: If the San Diego County Superior Court authorizes you for traffic violator school and you elect not to go or take a class online, your insurance premiums and/or driver's license validity may become adversely affected.
