Flagstaff Municipal Court

Please read your citation (both sides) for specific information related to your traffic citation. The following information is also mostly applicable to citations assigned to the following Coconino Courts: Fredonia Justice Court, Fredonia Municipal Court, Williams Justice Court, Williams Municipal Court.

The defensive driving program for Flagstaff Municipal Court is a 4.5 hour course on techniques for safer driving. Once passed, your traffic citation will be dropped and NO POINTS will be assessed to your Motor Vehicle Division Official Driving Record.

Notice to all drivers: Failure to respond to your civil traffic citation may result in a default judgment and your driving privileges may be suspended.

Entering a plea of responsible is an option BUT WILL ADD POINTS TO YOUR MVD RECORD. See the ticket fine schedule for the court to which you were cited to appear for the amount you owe. You will be required to pay the ticket amount in full by mail or by walk-in. You must pay the court listed on your traffic citation.

Entering a plea of not responsible is also an option IF YOU WISH TO APPEAR IN COURT TO CONTEST YOUR TICKET. Read your traffic citation very carefully if you choose this option. You will be required to post the citation fine amount and contact the court in writing to setup your hearing in court.

Enrolling in a Defensive Driving School Program is your third option. This easy option will dismiss your traffic ticket and NO POINTS WILL BE ADDED to your MVD driving record.

To be eligible to participate in a defensive driving online program:

The defensive driving school program is a four to eight hour course on techniques for safer driving. Once finished, your citation will be dismissed and points will NOT be reported to the Motor Vehicle Division of Arizona. You can only attend one (1) defensive driving class in a two year period.

Please Note: Failure to respond to your citation may cause a default judgment against you and driving privilege suspension.

Defendants 18+ years of age: If you are 18 or over and have received a civil traffic citation you have three options, the first option being taking a defensive driving school. Other options include paying the fine and pleading guilty, contesting the citation in court, or contacting the court. Please read your citation, front and back, very carefully for full details.
